Click for "The Cyclists` Special" filmed Sunday 8 May 1955. A short film produced by "The British Transport Film Unit" about a C.T.C. rail assisted ride. The B.T.F.U. was owned by British Rail and produced factual films between 1949-1982 to promote rail transport and tourism in Britain. Some people may tell you that this was the "golden age" of cycling when there was no hassle putting your bike on a train as a designated carriage would be provided and it would be expensive/rare to own a car. Britain was a major manufacturing exporter; there was no climate change, compensation culture, political correctness, health and safety mania, hoodies, a.s.b.o.`s, school run, the need for traffic lights on roundabouts, petrol was not considered to be more valuable than water - and the shops stayed closed on Sundays.
