The 1960s...

During this iconic decade our D.A. had a high membership particularly of young people and women. There was a diverse range of social activities including club room competitions, slideshows and coach trips (without the bikes!) More cafes existed and Youth Hostel weekends were very popular. Some of our members even organised cycle tours in Europe, a rare and expensive task at the time.

One photo shows the winter of 1963, one of the most severest on record, but this didn`t deter the riders! Alas, some of the people featured are no longer with us, but some are still riding today.

Thanks to Alan Parker and Dave Martindale for the photos.
