A5117 Near Woodbank Lodge Lane crossing - The Contractors have now decided to close the Lodge Lane crossing as it is now thought to be too dangerous. Work is now proceeding to finish the bridge ahead of the revised deadline of Aug 08. However. The link road from Woodbank to the Deeside Ind Est roundabout will hopefully be changed slightly to make it safer for cyclists.

Noel Blundell.

Congratulations to the City of Liverpool and Culture Company for a spectaular and safe opening night at St Georges Hall for 2008 Capital of Culture year. Some of our members attended the opening and a cyclist was spotted passing the celebrations by a Daily Post Photographer (see Saturday Daily Post 12/1/2008) If anyone knows the person, let me know.
Back numbers can be viewed at the Liverpool Echo office Old Hall Street or Libraries. Anyway, well done and looking forward to the numerous events happening throughout the City this year.

Michael Jones.

We received the following letter from Linda Lacey:

I am trying to find any details that I can about a cycling club that my grandfather used to belong to in Liverpool in the early 1900`s. It was called "The Old Seftonians Cycle Club." I wondered whether it might have joined with your club (Merseyside D.A.) in the past?

I have several photos of the club on outings on the ferry, on the Wirral, in North Wales. I also have a photograph of an illuminated address given to a club member when he emigrated to New Zealand in 1908 and a photograph of the club`s badge.

As my grandfather died in 1916, when my mother was only a baby, I only have the photographs as evidence that the club ever existed.

I look forward to hearing from you.
